9–13 April 2017
YOUR MISSION is to learn about the science and engineering of drone technology so that you can become one of Qatar’s Engineering Heroes.
Texas A&M University at Qatar and Maersk Oil Qatar announce Engineering Heroes Drone Camp, an elite, five-day academic enrichment program designed for exceptional students who are interested in engineering and science. Outstanding faculty, researchers and technical staff from the universities will guide participants through exercises and design challenges as they learn engineering and science fundamentals of aviation and drone technology in addition to principles of programming. Engineering Heroes will culminate with a competition in which participants apply quadcopter drone technology toward solving practical problems.
Participants for Engineering Heroes will be selected on a competitive basis, and enrollment is limited to a maximum of 36 students. Engineering Heroes will run 9–13 April, Sunday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., in the Texas A&M Engineering Building and the Hamad bin Khalifa University Student Center. Participants will be expected to complete all five days of the program to be eligible for awards and to earn a certificate of participation.
Applicants for Engineering Heroes should be in grade 10, 11 or 12 during spring 2017. Applicants should possess exceptional talent in science and mathematics in addition to versatile communication skills — the program and its activities will be delivered in English.
Application decisions will be made by 26 March. Successful applicants must pay a non-refundable registration fee of QAR 200 and submit a signed program authorization by 2 April to be eligible for participation.
Maersk Oil Qatar is the exclusive sponsor and industry partner for Engineering Heroes, and that support makes this exciting program possible.
